Ideal Automation Manager

Our ideal Automation Manager is someone who can bring vision to existence. You are driven to achieve big goals and can articulate the vision for others to follow.

The Automation Manager will build and grow the program across multiple plants. Your mind is always thinking 'Return on Investment' and 'What's the Best Way.'

As our Automation Manager, you will create the future, track trends and know how to delegate to the experts yet ensure the work is complete.

You will be masterful in identifying automation opportunities, oversee projects from start to finish and evaluate effectiveness.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities of the Automation Manager

  • Proactively recognize and drive automation and robotic solution opportunities to simplify manufacturing processes
  • Develop an overall strategic plan and his execution.
  • Prepare system specifications and supporting documentation for automated and robotic systems
  • Manage medium to large process control system/equipment implementation, improvement, optimization, and expansion and upgrade projects to meet site objectives.
  • Provide moderate to advance technical assistance to site operating groups through investigations, control system assessments and design support.
  • Work closely with IT groups as a cross functional team member to meet automation project objectives.
  • Work with the plant and local automation employees to bring vision to existence
  • Assist engineering team with automation and electrical initiatives on Capex projects.

Supervisory responsibilities:

  • Lead the Marmon IEI automation strategy with indirect responsibilities (dotted lines) overseeing automation engineers and technicians located at the facilities.

Required Skills

  • Preferably a bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, or Mechanical/Electrical/Systems Engineering or related science.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience working with automated systems, mechanical, electrical and/or robotic technical maintenance
  • Experience with design of robotic systems, safety assessments, machine vision systems, CAD/CAM software, robotic simulation software, statistical programs.
  • Familiarity with 3-D modeling systems;
  • Familiarity with networking, PC and server
  • Ability to communicate with all stakeholders, from lead operator to C-Suite management passing by Manufacturing management, Engineers and Technicians
  • Demonstrated technical aptitude and a strong desire for continuous improvement
  • Ability and willingness to lead and train
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Project Plan & Project Documentation.

Additional Skills

  • Fluent in English, additional language (French, Spanish) would be advantageous.
  • Advanced Excel skills, as well as a working knowledge of the other programs in the Microsoft Office suite of products.
  • Must be an effective communicator with the ability to interface at all levels within the organization.
