Description

The Department of Psychology at Stony Brook University invites applications for a full-time Associate Director of the Leonard Krasner Psychological Center (KPC) at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor, non-tenure track.

The KPC is the in-house training clinic for the Psychology Department's highly ranked doctoral program in Clinical Psychology and serves the University and surrounding community. It is also part of the three SBU Consortium Psychology Training Programs, which include an APA accredited pre-doctoral internship, a pre-doctoral externship, and a postdoctoral fellowship. The KPC provides evidence-based CBT-informed training and services for a wide range of psychological disorders, including specialized programs in anxiety disorders, chronic depression, and wellness/resiliency. We are also developing new programs in trauma for youth and adults, LGBTQ health, and aging, as well as research opportunities for faculty and students at all levels.

The primary responsibilities of the Associate Director are to assist the Director with clinical supervision and teaching, program development/management, overseeing KPC clinic operations, and community outreach. We are particularly interested in a Ph.D. level clinical psychologist who comes from a clinical scientist or scientist-practitioner program, and whose training and clinical experience are consistent with an evidence-based practice approach and the implementation of Cognitive Behavioral models, including third wave approaches to treatment. Experience in providing clinical supervision and interest/scholarly work in the integration of science-practice are also desirable.

Qualifications

Required qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. or Psy.D. (or foreign equivalent) in Clinical Psychology from an APA or PCSAS accredited program.
  • Completion of an APA accredited internship or the equivalent.
  • An active New York State license in psychology, or an active out-of-state license with eligibility for NY licensure within six months of hire, or willingness to take the EPPP examination for licensure in New York State within 12 months of hire.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience providing supervision/training in psychological assessment and CBT-based treatment to graduate psychology trainees, such as students from Ph.D. or Psy.D. programs in clinical psychology, psychology pre-doctoral externs, psychology doctoral interns, and postdoctoral fellows.
  • Experience providing psychological assessment services (psycho-educational and psycho-diagnostic) services to youth and/or adult populations.
  • Experience providing evidence-based CBT psychotherapy, including elements of third wave CBT models, to youth and/or adult populations.
  • Experience in mental health service provision with underrepresented and minoritized populations.
  • Interest and involvement in efforts to integrate diversity, equity and inclusion issues in training and/or service delivery.
  • Interest in and experience in conducting clinical research.
  • Experience in providing psychological treatment to patients across the life span.
  • Teaching experience, particularly at the graduate level.
  • Experience in program implementation and development.
  • Administrative experience in a psychology training clinic or outpatient mental health center.
