Summary: The Credit Analyst will analyze credit data and financial statements of individuals to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money. Prepare reports with credit information for use in decision making.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned

  • Evaluates the financial condition of applicants for commercial loans with the bank. Spreads and analyzes the financial statements of borrowers and prospects, and primary and secondary sources of repayment, identifies risks, evaluates collateral, calculates cash flow, researches the borrower's industry and the economic impact of changes to market conditions while considering Loan Policy requirements. Analyzes data on new, renewal, and existing loans, including data provided by credit bureaus, other banks and bank files. Completes renewals and new/increases limit request for ACH and RDC.
  • Spreads and analyzes the financial statements of borrowers, computes ratios and recommends loan structures with consideration of policy and appropriate primary and secondary sources of repayment. This is frequently an introductory level position to commercial lending so that this individual interfaces/consults frequently with peers and manager to produce work product. Typically less complex analyses are assigned to this position.
  • Orders and analyzes credit reports from credit reporting agencies (such as Experian). Under RMA guidelines, responds to credit inquiries on both borrowing and non-borrowing commercial accounts.
  • May participate in customer / prospect calls as part of information-gathering team.
  • May reviews appraisals for transactions less than $750,000.
  • Assists in maintaining and producing a variety of reports about the commercial portfolio of the Bank.
  • Completes all yearly compliance training and testing and complies with bank, federal, and state regulations. Complies with Bank Policies and Procedures. Adheres to departmental and bank-wide service

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in Business, Economics, Finance or Accounting required; and one to two years related experience and/or training

Computer Skills: Knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel and the ability to adapt to and learn other software systems used by the Credit Department and Bank.

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to sit, use hands to sort, write and keyboard, and to listen and speak. The associate is frequently required to reach, walk, stoop, crouch. The associate is occasionally required to stand, lift, bend, drive and travel.

The associate may work offsite at community, financial education and bank-at-work events several times a year, and occasionally makes business calls with the Banking Center Manager. Heavy volume during peak times, including the first and third of each month.
