Benesch is looking for Construction Inspectors to join our talented Glastonbury team! This opportunity has great growth and potential within our Transportation Group, as we look to expand our construction inspection services in the Northeast. The immediate responsibility includes overseeing sub-consultant inspectors across multiple concurrent at-grade railroad crossings in eastern New York.
Glastonbury, PAThis position will work in the field doing inspection for at-grade railroad crossings in eastern New York, and when necessary, remote.
The Impact You Will Have- Completion of assigned tasks within allotted schedule and budget.
- Review and assure the project supervisor of the adequacy of budget and schedule.
- Follow applicable project procedures.
- Perform construction observation of construction activities.
- Maintain a field book in accordance with project procedures.
- Perform measurements of construction work performed and quantity calculations of pay items.
- Coordinate project administration including inspection, quality control testing, and reporting.
- Perform construction inspection on roadway projects, bridge projects, and railroad grade crossing projects.
- Perform technical assistance services for project documentation procedures including project close-outs, local agency project oversight, and office technician services.
- Perform inspection services for proper design, placement, uniformity, and operation of traffic control and safety devices. This includes inspection of pavement markings, traffic signal support structures, signing, guardrails, impact attenuators, work zone traffic control setup and removal operations, etc.
- NYSDOT construction experience is a plus and knowledge of NYSDOT manuals, procedures, forms, and specifications preferred.
- CTDOT construction experience and knowledge of CTDOT manuals, procedures, forms, and specifications is a plus.
- Demonstrate a high degree of organizational skills, computer skills, interpersonal skills, ability to multi-task and work independently.
- Willingness to travel to project sites to New York and Connecticut
- Good driving record and valid driver's license
- NYSDOT or CTDOT PE License with a minimum of 5 years of experience or 10 Years of Experience with NICET HCI Level 4
